Study in Italy 2026/27: visa funds, DSU scholarships and ISEE parificato
To get an Italian student visa for 2026/27 you must show €10,179.85 a year, according to the procedures of the Ministry of University and Research and the Foreign Ministry read on 31 October 2026. The Ministry's minimum DSU scholarship for an off-campus student is €7,171.11 (up to €8,246.78 for the lowest incomes, less as the ISEE nears the limit) if the family's ISEE stays under €28,339.88 or a lower regional limit.

DSU scholarships 2026/27 by agency
One row per call we read on 31 October 2026. You need both indicators under the limit. "Off-campus" (fuori sede) is the rate for students who rent near the university; students whose family lives abroad generally count as off-campus when they pay rent near the university for the period the call requires. All the 2026/27 application windows have closed.

The visa: money, deadline and permit
The procedures for 2026/27 and 2027/28 set the funds at €10,179.85 a year, from legal and traceable sources, preferably your own or a relative's up to the fourth degree. A DSU scholarship counts only once it has been awarded. For bachelor's and master's degree courses (laurea, laurea magistrale, single-cycle) and AFAM academic diplomas, the visa application must reach the consulate by 30 November 2026 (for 2027/28, by 31 October 2027); universities can set an earlier date, and other courses (university Master, PhD, Erasmus, single courses, foundation) have no fixed date but not after classes start. Within 8 working days of arrival you apply for the residence permit, which costs €116.46 for up to one year.

Income abroad: the ISEE parificato
If your family lives abroad you cannot get a normal Italian ISEE. The calls use an "ISEE parificato": the family's income plus 20% of its assets (savings, and buildings counted at €500 per square metre), divided by the equivalence scale (2.46 for a family of four). Some agencies want it from a CAF they have an agreement with; others calculate it themselves from your documents. In most calls, students from the 46 countries on the Ministry's "particularly poor" list (Bangladesh and Nepal among them) bring a certificate from the Italian embassy instead.

How much money do I need for an Italian student visa in 2026/27?
€10,179.85 a year, according to the procedures of the Ministry of University and Research and the Foreign Ministry valid for 2026/27 and 2027/28. The money must come from legal, traceable sources, preferably your own or your family's.
Does a DSU scholarship count as proof of funds for the visa?
Only when it has been awarded. The procedures say that applying for, or being eligible for, a regional scholarship does not count without an explicit certificate that the scholarship was assigned to you.
What are the ISEE and ISPE limits for DSU scholarships in 2026/27?
The national maximum is €28,339.88 for the ISEE and €61,608.48 for the ISPE (MUR Directorial Decree 176 of 10 February 2026); each region can set lower limits, from €23,000 in the calls we read.
How much is the DSU scholarship for off-campus students?
The Ministry's minimum for 2026/27 is €7,171.11 a year (MUR Directorial Decree 175 of 10 February 2026), paid in full when the ISEE is up to two thirds of the agency's limit and reduced above that, down to half. Most calls add 15% for the lowest incomes: €8,246.78 at the agencies that pay it in cash. Some agencies pay part of it as free meals or a room.
What is the ISEE parificato?
The economic indicator that replaces the Italian ISEE when your family's income and assets are abroad. It adds up the family's income and 20% of its assets, then divides by a scale that depends on the number of people. A CAF or the agency calculates it from official documents from your country.
When do the DSU calls for 2027/28 open?
We do not know yet. The 2026/27 calls we read opened between 5 June 2026 and 24 July 2026 and closed between 22 July 2026 and 30 September 2026. Watch your agency's website from June 2027.
