What the numbers mean

The figures count people whose citizenship application has been approved and who have not yet attended a ceremony, including people already invited, on 30 September 2026. The waiting time is counted from the date of approval to 30 September 2026: it is how long they had been waiting so far, not how long their whole wait will be. Home Affairs masks numbers from 1 to 4 as "<5", and some percentages do not add up to 100% because of rounding.

Ceremony dates and invitations

Home Affairs does not publish ceremony dates for each council: check City of Cockburn's website for its ceremony calendar. From the Home Affairs ceremony wait times page:

How long the whole application takes

Nationally, 90% of applications for citizenship by conferral are processed within 5 months, 90% of approved applicants waited up to 6 months from approval to ceremony, and 90% up to 11 months from application to ceremony (Home Affairs, updated 16 October 2026).
