How the figure compares with the rule in pesos
The New York consulate's PDF is dated 5 January 2026, before INEGI announced the 2026 UMA (8 January 2026), and it does not say which UMA or exchange rate it uses. With the 2026 UMA the guidelines' amount is MXN 79,770.80 (680 × MXN 117.31), ≈ US$4,219 at ECB rates of 30 October 2026, more than the US$4,200 on the page. Ask the consulate which figure applies on the day of your appointment.

Health cover while you move
AffiliateNone of the consulate pages we read asks for health insurance for a temporary or permanent resident visa: they ask for a passport, a photo, proof of income or savings and the fee. If you want health cover for the months you travel and settle in, compare policies before you go.
