Not legal or immigration advice. This page reports what the official pages of the Thai embassies and consulates said on the date we read them. Each mission decides on its own applications and can ask for more documents or an interview; paying the fee does not mean the visa will be granted, and the fee is not refunded. Check the official page of the mission and the Thai e-Visa website before you apply.

The rule since 31 August 2026
Since 31 August 2026 DTV applicants must submit proof of permanent residence in the country or territory where they apply and a criminal record certificate (Department of Consular Affairs, announcement of 28 August 2026). Applications submitted before that date follow the old rules. What changed.

Health cover for a long stay
AffiliateNone of the DTV pages we read asks for health insurance (they ask for a passport, a photo, proof of residence, bank statements, a criminal record certificate and proof of the purpose of your stay). A DTV allows stays of up to 180 days per entry. If you want health cover for a long stay, compare policies before you travel.
